Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Have a look around, browse, and get a glimpse into my womanhood. Hope you have a nice stay!

DJ Turns ONE

DJ Turns ONE

Y'all. I cant believe I have a one year old (nine months adjusted, but STILL! lol) I really do think I was in denial because I was SO last minute with the party planning {and this post I know) The end of the year came so fast and I hadn't even really had anything together. Initially I wanted this super nice party without you're regular child party theme, but one: the husband vetoed my idea of a winter carnival in our backyard and two: DJ is OBSESSED with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. If you see him on InstaSnap you know that's his jam. So off to Pinterest I went to try and make our semi empty formal dining and living room into DJs Clubhouse.

I'm so mad I didn't get an up close picture of the treats on the dessert table. I had a 'ONE" cake and smash cake made, hand cut mickey mouse rice crispy treats, and vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with oreo Mickey "ears" on top. It was a lot of work but so much fun!

About four trips to Michaels and Party City later, we did it! My mother and sister flew in from Californiato spend the holidays with us starting with DJs birthday, so they were a TON of help. I think everyone in the house had a turn at cutting out card stock mickey mouse heads lol I definitely underestimated all the work I had cut out for myself; all the DIY decorations, homemade desserts and food, there was no way I could've gotten it all done by myself. It was so worth it though, and the compliments on how nice everything looked didn't hurt either ;)

The party was awesome! Everyone that we invited came, some traveling over six hours just to celebrate with us. We had a ton of food, way too much dessert (including a piñata!) and just a lot of fun. About half-way through DJ was kinda over it but all the older kids had a blast. One of the perks of having a big family on his fathers side is that there's always guaranteed playmates and kids to attend the parties lol Everyone put on their Mickey and Minnie ears, even us adults, and had a good time.

I don't know if DJ will remember his first birthday but we enjoyed celebrating such a huge milestone for our former micro preemie. To go from this 1lb 11oz teeny baby to a 23lb, healthy boy, theres no human word that could describe how thankful I am. God is just so SO good. I'm looking forward to all the new things that come with having a one year old around, I cant wait to see all that this year has in store for my big boy.
